Merseyside Health have chosen to base our clinics in locations with access to a wide variety of rehab and performance training equipment. Our aim is to get you off the treatment table as quickly as possible and back into training and competition. This often means having your Physiotherapist or Sports Therapist assess and rehabilitate you in an environment where more dynamic movements relevant to your sport can be tested.

“If you’re not testing, you’re guessing”

Our physios and rehab team will use a variety of measures and assessments to help make decisions about your readiness for a return to sport. Preventing a re-injury and returning players back with areas of weakness addressed is a vital part of sports injury management. We don’t just want to get you out of pain, we want you back and ready to win!

Recovery from sports injury can mean more than performing the physical exercises needed to recondition the body. Some of the most important factors are the least often talked about. Getting your nutrition plan right and addressing factors such as mental health and mindset during injury can be crucial. Merseyside Health Physios will always seek to provide support in a holistic manner and when needed they can refer to our specialists in Rehabilitation Psychology and Dietetics for support.

In addition to the essential foundations of exercise rehabilitation, our sports injury service can provide access to treatments such as laser, shockwave, sports massage, acupuncture, cupping, manual Therapy or Manipulation hands-on therapy.

Research into female athletes and their injury rehabilitation is gathering pace. Our team is working hard to keep at the forefront of emerging research and provide the very best service to injured female athletes. Understanding the important differences in injury patterns and factors affecting recovery between men and women is vital is getting the right results for women in sport.

Children and adolescents are not mini adults. Rapid growth and fluctuations in hormone levels predispose our youth athletes to different patterns of injury which require management different from fully mature athletes. Furthermore, communication with youth athletes, coaches and parents requires important considerations to support a successful return from injury. With experience at youth academy sports at the grass roots, national and international levels, our team are well equipped to work with youth athletes.

There is nothing more frustrating than having your injury discounted due to your age. Merseyside Health work with athletes who continue to compete at a high level well into their senior years. This presents all sorts of interesting challenges for managing the body for training and competition. Challenges that here at Merseyside health we are ready to help you meet.
