The team also has specialist knowledge in dietetics for neurological conditions.

What does a dietitian do?

A dietitian is a qualified health professional who assesses and treats diet and nutrition problems. Dietitian is a protected title in the UK, so every dietitian must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Your dietitian gives practical, evidence-based advice tailored to your medical history, lifestyle and goals, rather than a one-size-fits-all diet plan.

A sports nutritionist is a person who specializes in how your diet, hydration, and supplements can affect exercise performance, training adaptation, and recovery from exercise. Sports Nutrition at Merseyside health is covered by Dr Ash Cox. Ash is an applied sports scientist with post graduate qualifications in applied sports nutrition. He has worked with top athletes including premiership level footballers and UK special forces military personnel to achieve the optimal fueling strategies for success.

What can our dietitians help with?

Nutrition alongside physiotherapy and coaching

Our dietitian service is closely linked with our physiotherapy and health coaching services. That joined-up approach is particularly useful for weight management and for long-term conditions such as osteoporosis, heart conditions and gastrointestinal problems, where diet, movement and lifestyle all play a part.

If joint pain or arthritis is limiting how active you can be, your dietitian and physiotherapist can work together on a plan that covers both.

How does it work?

  1. Free discovery call: a short 15-minute call to talk through your concerns and check our service is right for you.

  2. Food diary: you may be asked to keep a short food diary so your dietitian has a clear picture of your current eating habits.

  3. Initial assessment: an in-depth look at your medical history, lifestyle and eating habits, followed by a plan tailored to your goals.

  4. Review appointments: follow-ups to track your progress and adjust your plan.
