After graduating as a Physiotherapist from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010, Ben worked across disciplines in the NHS, including Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Orthopaedics, Neurology and GP clinics. His final NHS role was as a shoulder specialist physio, working alongside a top shoulder surgeon. He is now at his happiest treating shoulder problems.
In addition to a busy NHS career, Ben has also worked in private practice where he developed specialist hands on skills in treating back and neck pain. He worked in high level sport and with the military as a physiotherapy officer in the Army Reserve. In 2018 Ben worked for a year in a rehabilitation hospital in Sydney Australia where he developed an interest in Hydrotherapy. This experience led him to set up the Merseyside Health Hydrotherapy service which has grown in popularity even featuring on BBC Radio Merseyside program.
Ben’s career highlights include travelling as team physio with England Boxing to the Junior World Championships in St Petersburg, and with England Badminton on tours to Kuala Lumpur and to the Junior European Championships in Kazan, Russia. A keen badminton player himself Ben has represented his home county of Devon at senior level, and still plays in the local leagues for Blundellsands Badminton Club (proudly sponsored by Merseyside Health).
When not working on the next Merseyside Health project, Ben can be found gardening, watching Exeter Chiefs rugby and spending time being active with his family and friends.
