After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University in 2010 with a BSc Hons Degree in Physiotherapy, Tom has specialised in treating musculoskeletal presentations in the general populations for the NHS and in private practice. In addition to this he has also worked in elite sport settings, such as football, rugby and badminton.
Whilst living in London Tom worked at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust working in a wide variety of clinical areas, including; Trauma & Orthopaedics, Medicine & ICU, Cardiothoracics, Amputee Rehab, Community Rehab, Neurology, Neurosurgery and MSK Outpatients. With this wide breadth of experience, Tom prides himself on being confident in treating all adult and adolescent Physiotherapy presentations, but recognises there’s always more to learn, a fact which motivates him to keep developing as a physio.
Tom has gained post-graduate qualifications in Acupuncture with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and is also an accredited Mental Health First Aider (MHFA). Tom understands how our physical health is inextricably linked to our mental health and overall wellbeing. He is a keen advocate of working collaboratively with other colleagues to provide the most comprehensive and holistic management of each presentation. Having previously played both rugby and cricket to a high standard and now keeping fit by cycling, running and hitting the gym – Tom uses his advanced knowledge of exercise and conditioning to provide his clients with the most expert and comprehensive advice. Tom is passionate about treating people of all backgrounds and abilities, finding the right blend of hands-on treatment, advice and exercise to ensure each individual reaches their full potential.
Alongside working here at Merseyside Health, Tom also works as a Senior Occupational Health Physiotherapist at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, helping to support fellow healthcare workers stay in work and manage their physical wellbeing.
A very sociable physio, Tom does not take himself too seriously and enjoys chatting about anything and everything from current affairs through to music, movies and podcasts… Just don’t mention his beloved Brentford FC, otherwise you could be listening to him for a very long time!
