Emma Young

I am a Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist with a 1st class Hons degree in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University and 5 years experience within the NHS. I developed an interest in Neurological Physiotherapy from the offset and continued this interest into my rotational career at the Countess of Chester. I then specialised in Neuro when I began working at the Walton Centre in 2023. Here I not only solidified my love for Neuro Physiotherapy but also found a new home in Liverpool and made the move over the water!

I have experience treating a wide range of neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological conditions such as Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), peripheral neuropathies and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

Seeing my patients achieve their goals and make real improvements to their quality of life is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I am very excited to be working at Merseyside Health, where I am able to work with patients past the point of hospital and into real life. We will work on whatever is meaningful to you, by creating achievable and meaningful goals, that will underpin our sessions and exercise programmes.

Outside of work my interests lie with what sparked my Physiotherapy journey… Dance! I like to keep busy with weekly dance classes whether that be ballet, jazz or tap dance! I am also currently completing an Italian course at the University of Liverpool, to be able to chat with my Italian relatives and of course have a great excuse for some Italian holidays!
